Etta James’ “At Last” is the most popular song for couples to have their first dance to at their wedding, according to Spotify.
The music streaming service analysed around 30,000 wedding-themed playlists to discover what the top ten most popular first dance songs are, reports businessinsider.com. Spotify timed their research perfectly, as the second weekend in July is also the most popular time of year to get married.
Etta James is, of course, a classic, but a number of modern tracks made in on to the list too. Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up” placed second and “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne came third. John Legend’s 2013 hit, “All of Me” managed to nab the number four position.
Many grooms and brides prefer to pick a first dance song that’s a bit of a tear-jerker, but upbeat songs work just as well too, as proven by the popularity of “Better Together” by Jack Johnson, which came fifth in the poll. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Michael Bublé and Adele made the cut too, with “Everything” coming seventh and “Make You Feel My Love” placing tenth, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Country music hit “Then” by Brad Paisley made the list at ninth place and although Bright Eyes’ “First Day of My Life” only ever made it number 37 in the UK Singles Chart, it proves to be a popular wedding tune, as it stole the eighth position.
