Boris Johnson determined to cement Olympic legacy for events industry

The success of this summer’s Olympic Games has left London Mayor Boris Johnson even more determined to leave a positive legacy for the events industry, reports

Thanks to the Olympics, London will be welcoming a number of new events to function venues, as well as returning favourites such as the NFL Series International and the ATP World Tour Finals. As a result, the UK capital is more focused than ever when it comes to being the ‘most exciting destination’ for major live events.

Johnson states, cited by “London is still buzzing from the extraordinary positive contagion which spread through the capital during the 2012 Games, and I am determined to use the fantastic summer as a springboard for the future.

“We have already lined up an exciting calender of cultural sporting spectaculars for the coming months, which will cement London’s reputation as the best big city in the world in which to host major events.”

Furthermore, head of major events at London & Partners Iain Edmondson believes that while it may be difficult for London to top ‘the most incredible summer of sport that London has ever seen’, prospective event managers and goers will be more determined than ever to get involved in the sector.

Consequently, London will continue to ‘sparkle on the world stage’, he added.
