Brides inspired by world's most expensive dog wedding

A pet boutique owner has filled brides-to-be with envy by spending £20,000 on a wedding reception for her dog.

The extortionate expense, which is far more than some humans spend on getting married, included £2,500 spent on jewellery and wedding outfits for the loved-up mutts and a further £2,500 on the wedding reception venue.

Other expenses included £3,000 given to designers to decorate the marquee, £1,000 on a doggy creche and £500 to hire the Bentley which escorted the pets to the ceremony.

The world’s most expensive dog wedding also featured a chocolate fountain, cupcake tower and £1,500 worth of gifts for the bride and groom.

Owner Louise Harris estimated to the Daily Mail that she had spent over £100,000 on her three dogs over the last six years, including £16,000 on a dog nanny for when she is at work.

She said: “A lot of people think I’m mad, and I realise it’s completely over the top, but I want to give them the best life I possibly can.”

“My dogs are well cared for and are spoilt with love as well as presents so I don’t see anything wrong with spending so much on them.”

The Daily Telegraph revealed that Louise had run an online competition to find the perfect husband for her Yorkshire Terrier Lola.

The winner of the competition was Chinese Crested Mugly, who also holds the title of World’s Ugliest Dog after winning a competition in 2005.
