Northern Irish television presenter, Christine Bleakley, and Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard, are set to marry.
The couple’s engagement was announced by Lampard’s agent, who told the Daily Mirror that Bleakley accepted his proposal whilst the pair were in Los Angeles.
Already the news has left media organisations and fans wondering which location will be chosen for the couple’s wedding venue. London would seem like the obvious choice due to Lampard’s ties with Premier League team Chelsea.
However, Lampard’s agent seem to pre-empt the hysteria and dumb down further speculation. He was quoted by BBC News as saying: “They are obviously both delighted but there are no immediate wedding plans and there couple will not be making any further comment.”
That hasn’t stopped a wave of support coming through for the ITV ‘Daybreak’ presenter, who initially found fame presenting the BBC’s ‘One Show’.
A colleague of Bleakley’s tweeted today: “Wedding news!! Congratulations to our lovely Christine who has got engaged to Frank Lampard in LA.
“He finally did it!”
The 32-year-old has denied that marriage was on the cards this year at all, according to the Mail Online. She said that the England International and father-of-two gave nothing away up until the moment of his proposal.
The couple met at the Pride of Britain awards in 2009 after being introduced by cricketer, Kevin Pietersen.
