Conference Awards hailed a success

More than 500 event organisers attended this year’s Conference Awards to celebrate excellence in the industry.

The ceremony, held at a London event venue, was hosted by journalist, broadcaster and former Conservative cabinet minister Michael Portillo.

Among the winning categories, event organisers and professionals from conference centres were awarded with accolades such as Best Conference Team, Best Large Scale Marketing Event, Best London Venue, Best Marketing Team and Best Conference Launch.

An additional award for Triumph in the Face of Adversity was given to a team who handled a media event in Valencia that was interrupted by the volcanic ash cloud last year, Meetpie.com reports.

Comedian Dominic Holland was on duty to entertain the crowds, made up of 140 different companies, during the half-time break.

The awards are now very much a firm fixture in the industry calendar, with CEOs and MDs from all the leading companies participating with their key staff said the organisers.

Furthermore, according to conferenceawards.co.uk the awards ceremony was watched by hundreds of people all over the world who were unable to attend via live webcast. This webcast will be available to view again by registering at the website.

Claire Wormsley, co-founder of the Conference Awards, commented on the success of the event. She said:  “The quality and the quantity of entries was fantastic this year and we would like to extend our thanks to the judging panel who spent many hours reviewing the entries.

“There were some extremely close calls in many of the categories,” she added.
