Ellie Goulding to sing at royal reception

Rising pop sensation Ellie Goulding is scheduled to perform for Prince William and Kate Middleton moments after they become man-and-wife, the Daily Mail reports.

The 24-year-old is the only singer with a personal invite to the exclusive wedding reception venue in Buckingham Palace where the after-party is being staged. There she will serenade the newlyweds with her version of Elton John’s classic, ‘Your Song’.

The royal couple are said to be big fans of Miss Goulding – who won the praise of critics in 2010 with a BBC Sound and Critics Choice Brit Award.

A source told the newspaper: “Ellie was knocked off her feet when she received the invitation to perform for Prince William and Kate – and was so hugely honoured when they said they were both big fans of her music.”

“She still can’t quite believe that she will perform for the Royal newlyweds, all the young Royal guests and their friends, it hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Understandably, the source said that Ellie is nervous about the performance. Around 300 guests, made up of close friends and family, will be in attendance for the first dance on Friday evening.

The ‘Starry Eyed’ singer – who is dating Radio One DJ Greg James – has had four hits in the UK charts, with her most successful being her Elton John cover. It peaked at number two in the Christmas charts last year after being featured in a John Lewis TV campaign.

According to The Sun, rumours circulating that US mega-star couple Beyoncé and Jay Z will perform at the bash are still unconfirmed.
