London the host city for two new Bollywood films

Two Bollywood blockbusters are set to be filmed in London next year, thanks to a successful meeting between mayor Boris Johnson and respected producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

Johnson met Nadiadwala during his ongoing tour of India and convinced him to use the British capital for scenes in ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Kick’. The former will be set entirely in the British capital.

Johnson travelled to India last weekend in an effort to promote trade between India and Britain and this deal represents quite the coup. Nadiadwala could well be researching the appropriate venues for hire in London already.

Speaking to itv.com, Johnson appeared excited to welcome the world of Bollywood to the city.

He said: “I’m thrilled that Sajid Nadiadwala has chosen London as the backdrop for not one, but two of his brand new blockbusters. As our recent World Cities Culture Report shows, London and Mumbai are major players on the international stage for creativity and the arts. Filmmaking is massively important to both our cities and we need to build on the momentum that already exists.

Freshbusinessthinking.com that ‘Housefull 3’ is the third of an extremely successful Bollywood franchise, whilst Nadiadwala will be making his debut as a director in ‘Kick’.
