A key industry association will look to prove the importance of British events through a new manifesto, reports meetpie.com.
The Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) believes far more needs to be done to raise the profile of events and highlight their contribution to the UK economy.
Members of the group are looking to do this by putting together a new manifesto which will clarify what the sector wants and what it already provides ahead of the 2015 general election.
Samme Allen, one of four newly re-elected BVEP vice chairs, says her group is ideally positioned to become the voice of the events industry at such a crucial time.
Ms Allen claimed that over the last few years the BVEP has become a “valuable knowledge-sharing” forum which has helped represent the wide diversity of the UK events industry.
“Now it’s about taking this intelligence and using it to best benefit the future growth and sustainability of our industry,” she added.
According to eventindustrynews.co.uk, Ms Samme was re-elected alongside Richard Foulkes, Simon Hughes and Chris Skeith, who will serve as the BVEP’s vice chairs for the next two years.
They will partner Michael Hirst, chair of the BVEP, in developing policies, practices and strategies to generate growth in the sector.
