Top singing acts chosen to switch on London Christmas lights

The Saturdays and Justin Bieber will be helping London celebrate the beginning of the festive season.

The two popular pop acts are amongst the celebrities tasked with turning on Christmas lights in the capital next week.

Pop music fans will be able to see The Saturdays in Oxford Street on November 1 where they will perform their newest single ‘My Heart Takes Over’ before switching on the lights to London’s most popular shopping street.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old singing sensation Justin Bieber will be whisked across the capital to perform the light switching duties in two separate locations in Westfield on November 7.

The Press Association report he will perform his new single ‘Mistletoe’ for an estimated audience of 10,000 at The Atrium before performing again at Westfield Stratford City.

World famous acts such as Leona Lewis, Westlife and The Spice Girls have previously been tasked with switching on Christmas lights in the capital.

Such occasions are a brilliant opportunity for the top party venues London has to offer to cash in on the increased foot traffic in their local area.

Discussing the announcement with Metro, Jace Tyrell from The New West End Company claimed that it should be seen as an honour to switch on the Oxford Street Christmas lights.

She said: “London’s iconic Oxford Street lights will capture the imagination of the tens of millions of visitors over the Christmas period.”
