A bride had her wish come true at her wedding on Saturday courtesy of an iPad, which allowed her close friend to act as bridesmaid without actually being there.
Bride Jamie Alberico had her bridesmaid, Renee Armstrong, attend via the tablet’s video web cam facility.
The pair couldn’t be together in person but as Mrs Alberico put it: “Renee called dibs to be my bridesmaid many moons ago” so the ladies had to find a way to make it happen, despite living 1,600 miles apart.
“Unfortunately she couldn’t physically make it out here but thank you technology. She got to see the whole ceremony, she got to meet everyone and be here for the reception,” she added in The Sun.
Mrs Armstrong echoed this sentiment, stating: “It was great. I got all teary-eyed during the ceremony and I couldn’t have got that from pictures.”
The heart-warming story may inspire other brides or grooms-to-be to do something similar at their church or the event spaces hired for their receptions. Often weddings cause divides as beloved friends or family members cannot attend due to distance; though this could provide a realistic alternative.
They will need to have a willing person to hold the iPad or other tablet up however, as Mrs Alberico had to enlist one of her male guests to do so throughout the entire ceremony – who apparently look “a bit bashful” walking down the aisle, Today.com reported.
