London Technology Week 2015 Celebrations @ The Brewery

The technology sector has fast become the beating heart of London, bringing more financial investment during Q1 2015 than in any previous quarter. As one of the closest major venues to London’s epicentre of tech the ‘silicon roundabout’, we’ve been privileged to be at the centre of this revolution, seeing first-hand how the influx of innovative and exciting companies, both new and old, have helped to regenerate and bring a buzz back to the area.

As technology develops, event organisers, not just those in the tech industry, want more and more from their conference and event spaces. As a business, we have developed our product to meet the needs of forward-thinking companies and individuals and, as such, have welcomed everything from hackathons to global tech companies to experience our high-spec WIFI infrastructure and crystal clear sound systems.

We are thrilled with the continued growth and investment of this sector, this is reflected in our own technological developments and increased digital capacity throughout The Brewery.

Highlighting London’s position as a hotbed of tech innovation, business success, entrepreneurship and creative talent is London Technology Week (15-21 June). The seven day festival of live, face-to-face events will bring more than 40,000 people together from the tech community, and we are proud to be headline partners. To celebrate we will host the event organisers and tech specialists for a drinks reception at The Brewery on Thursday 18 June.

In addition to London Technology Week 2015, we’re dedicating a special ‘tech focus’ for the next Knowledge Guild in July, called ‘An Insight into Tech, Trust and Transformation’. On the 8 July, we’ll be welcoming tech reporter Kate Russell, and guests including digital entrepreneur and former TV ‘Dragon’ Piers Linney, international expert on cyber security Misha Glenny, and web psychologist Nathalie Nahai.

London is increasingly recognised as the global pacesetter in the tech sector and for digital start-ups. The new figures and record year-on-year visitor numbers continue to attract tech investors to our capital like never before, it’s not surprising that this year’s London Technology Week 2015 is going to be the biggest and best yet.

The Brewery Hosts London Technology Week 2015 Celebration for Tech Guests

Last night (18 June), The Brewery hosted a special celebration for London Technology Week 2015.

As official venue partners for the week-long technology festival, The Brewery welcomed 110 event organisers, industry contributors and tech specialists to celebrate the hugely successful event, London Technology Week.

Held in the outdoor courtyard marquee, a semi-permanent venue space erected for the summer months, guests were welcomed with Pimm’s cocktails to enjoy the late evening sun. There was also time for networking and a spot of simulation tennis, courtesy of Pavegan Systems’ – the innovative game generates renewable energy.

After being ushered inside to the Queen Charlotte Room there were welcome toasts from Adrian Newton of UBM and Tracy Halliwell, Director of Business Tourism and Major Events at London & Partners.

Canapés included triple fried chips with charred fillet of beef, and béarnaise sauce; crispy chicken skin, rosemary scented mascarpone and pancetta sauce were served. Bowl foods included tempura cod, skin on crispy chips, crushed peas, tartar sauce and malt vinegar gel; chickpeas, fig, mint and cinnamon yoghurt, pomegranate and spinach salad with tamarind sauce.

Throughout the evening guests were encouraged to get technical; activities included a gamified Twitter Wall from The Brewery’s event tech partner Lumi Insight, Mash Machine allowed attendees to generate their own music, while Zappar showcased their app, which transformed everyday images into augmented reality.

Faye Loader, Head of Business Development at The Brewery said: “It has been great to support London Technology Week this year. Having so many influential and creative people in one place was a great opportunity to showcase everything The Brewery has to offer, especially after what has been a hugely successful and busy week of events. Innovative thinking is an asset to London, and something The Brewery thrives on. It is this way of thinking that has taken the capital to where it is today, arguably the most advanced global tech hub.”

London Technology Week comes before The Brewery hosts the next instalment of The Knowledge Guild on Wednesday 8 July, An Insight into Tech, Trust and Transformation.
