New research says that the average British woman spends around £400 to attend a wedding, with over half of that being spent on their outfit.
The research, conducted by website PromotionalCodes.org.uk, said almost half of the women surveyed told them they had no problem spending £400 each time they attend a wedding and over two-thirds agreed that the outfit was the most expensive part, reports dailymail.co.uk.
While the bride is left worrying about the wedding reception venue, it’s estimated that their female guests spend an average of £210 on their wedding outfit alone. The price of a dress averaging at £100, shoes for £50 and extra accessories, such as jewellery, costing £60.
According to metro.co.uk, guests then pay around £80 for accommodation and £50 on a present for happy couple.
Hen parties can also be expensive too, as the survey found that women pay around £300 for a weekend away with their friends.
Louise Green from PromotionalCodes.org.uk, said: “Weddings are such a fun and exciting time for everyone, but they are definitely an expensive occasion, especially for women. The best thing to do when you know you have an upcoming wedding is put a bit of money aside every week, that way you have your money at the ready when the costs come flying in.”
