Conference and Incentive Travel (C&IT) magazine has launched their annual ‘Hot List’ competition, aiming to find out which global destination has the best provision of conference centres and corporate venues.
With voting underway, both clients and function venues are encouraged to take part in the survey, which will announce the world’s top conference destination; top incentive destination; best sustainable venue; top DMC and best unusual venue. To bolster participation, the magazine has also offered respondents the opportunity to win a holiday to Damascus, with a stay in a luxury hotel.
The 2009 survey found that London was the global conference destination leader, with the UK capital hoping to emulate this success in 2010. Barcelona came a close second, followed by Berlin taking up the bronze spot. London was also a winner in the best unusual events category and came third as an eco friendly events destination, re-enforcing the city’s standing as a premier events destination.
With voting set to close on 20 August and results expected in October, London event spaces won’t have to wait too long to find out whether the city has held onto its crown. Either way, the competition is expected to be a close fought battle, with Barcelona, Berlin and Cape Town hot on the heels of British hopes.
