A Coventry couple have celebrated a most magical wedding – in more ways than one – as they themed their big day around the Harry Potter franchise.
Guests at the union of Craig Fisk-Millband and Laura Younger were invited to attend the ceremony and wedding reception venue dressed as characters from the iconic movie series.
This saw dozens of guests assuming the roles of students from the well-known houses of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, reports coventrytelegraph.net, in what might be an inspiration to other soon-to-be-weds.
Newlywed Laura says she always knew the series would play a part: “Harry Potter has just been a big part of both of our lives so this was always going to be how we celebrate our big day.
“It just had to be a themed around all the characters.”
The couple, who have been together for seven years, are passionately crazy over the JK Rowling penned series, having met the majority of cast members and seen all the premieres in London together.
Unsurprisingly then, only a Hogwarts-inspired event would prove the natural proposal spot for Craig, who popped the question last year at Coventy’s Cannon Park Shopping Centre among a bevy of other fanatical wizards and witches.
The couple will later this month spend some time in London, where they will attempt to meet Harry Potter author JK Rowling at a signing event for a new book.
Craig’s grandmother, Millie Cochrane, aged 79, admitted on dailymail.co.uk that she isn’t familiar with the series but says that the wedding is unlikely to be forgotten.
“The wedding is a bit different isn’t it but I think it is something to be proud of,” she said. “It is something they will remember forever and all the guests will as well.”
