A host of designers have featured crop top wedding dresses as part of their Spring/Summer 2015 bridal collections at New York Bridal Week.
The edgy dresses, which are a far cry away from traditional princess-like gowns, have been seen in the collections of big names such as Vera Wang as well as Canada-based brand Theia.
Wang’s dress included a tulle skirt matched with a tight crop top, whilst the Theia gown featured a high-necked lace top paired with a satin skirt. As well as the two-piece dress, Wang’s new bridal collection also contained many far-from-traditional touches, such as floral overlays and ballgown skirts.
Talking about her latest collection, Wang said she had the modern woman in mind. She told hellomagazine.com: “It was meant to be dreamy and edgy, because girls today are edgy.”
The designer continued: “I don’t think of bridal as a niche. Hopefully, people will realise that these dresses can be worn for anything. They just happen to be white.”
Meanwhile other designers at the event took a much more conventional approach to their lines. This included Oscar De La Renta, who presented a collection which was full of classic and highly-embellished gowns, according to mydaily.co.uk. Jenny Packham also went for a mythical and romantic collection of dresses for her new bridal collection.
