The Queen Vic might not quite seem up there with the best glitzy party venues London has on offer, but the EastEnders residents are still throwing their very own Royal Wedding bash.
A source told The Daily Mirror that there was “no way the script writers could ignore the street party fever sweeping the nation,” as Albert Square prepares for the big day on April 29th.
However, the East end drama is throwing up some logistical nightmares. Technicians are going to insert pictures from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s big day after the episode has been shot. Studio bosses are said to be intent on giving the show a ‘live feel’.
It seems the whole of soap-land has gone crazy for the Royals. Neighbours producers are also introducing Wills and Kate references into scripts to coincide with the wedding, the Press Association reports. Scenes are currently being filmed in Australia.
Like many in the UK, the EastEnders residents are hosting a streetparty, and the source confirmed that there would be a proposal between Arthur ‘Fatboy’ Chubb and Mercy Olubunmi – making it an uncharacteristically happy episode.
According to the source: “EastEnders was always going to mark the Royal Wedding with a bang. It’s going to be a very bright and happy episode.”
