Eventia, a trade body for the events and marketing industry has announced an ambassador programme to highlight the most influential players in the sector.
The ambassador programme will reward those who have made an important contribution to the events industry, such as those running 400 capacity event venues or more who can provide a wealth of experience to others. The positions will not be given board status but appointments are expected to be made to former board members, according to Event Magazine.
Whilst the initial ambassadors have been chosen, event professionals seeking recognition will be keen to make their presence known for future programmes.
Awards are vital to the event industry with top performing event spaces and conference centres most popular with consumers and trade bodies alike. In light of spending cuts to the industry, expertly run venues that can host a variety of functions are expected to be most successful in terms of awards and revenue.
Eventia chairman Mark Saxby, was cited in an official press release as saying of the programme: ”All of our board members work incredibly hard for the organisation but this is a great way to recognise those that have added considerable value and to ensure that we can benefit from expertise on an ongoing basis.”
