James Bond Day to be held on October 5th

A celebration of James Bond will take place at the start of October ahead of the launch of the latest film in the franchise.

Friday October 5th has been named ‘Global James Bond Day’ by producers, marking 50 years since ‘Dr No’ was released – a motion picture that saw Sir Sean Connery take the lead role. In preparation for new instalment ‘Skyfall’, fans will be able to celebrate everything about 007’s world.

While there are undoubtedly official events taking place, the occasion may inspire some groups to get together and have a James Bond party at nearby event venues; the number of films in the franchise certainly allows for plenty of dressing-up options.

According to digitalspy.co.uk, fans may also have a new Bond theme to listen to, as Adele’s recording ‘Let The Sky Fall’ is rumoured to be released in time for Global James Bond Day. The film will be on general release three weeks later.

For anyone deciding to dress up for the occasion there are all sorts of villains to choose from, but also a number of different Bonds with different styles.

Sir Connery is many people’s favourite 007, while the latest incarnation – Daniel Craig – has won over many fans with his portrayal of the character; however a recent poll by shropshirestar.com saw George Lazenby finish top.
