Applications for the London 2012 Olympics will be available from 15 March for six weeks the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) have announced.
Paralympic tickets will be released on 9 September with more details on pricing to follow in May. Applications for tickets are welcome up until 26 April. However, tickets are balloted for popular and oversubscribed events, so a place is not guaranteed.
LOCOG Chair, Sebastian Coe, is expecting great interest when tickets are finally released for the “greatest show on earth.”
An estimated 100,000 people will be working during the games Opening Ceremony including thousands of volunteers.
“On 15 March, the application process opens. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the world’s greatest athletes going for gold in the UK – a chance for people to see their favourite sport and perhaps try a new one”, he said in Event Magazine.
A large variety of event spaces and venues will be used during the games and tickets will start from around £20. The 650 sports-schedule will be released to the two-million who have already registered next month.
