London’s hotels have been praised by travellers from around the world in TripAdvisor’s 2014 Travellers’ Choice Awards, itvnews.com reports.
Some 22 establishments in London were commended at the ceremony, eventually coming out on top of five out of the awards’ seven categories. This meant that London outperformed Barcelona, New York and Rome combined.
Of those which collected awards, Kensington’s Milestone Hotel had the biggest reason to celebrate, after being named the best in the UK and 15th in the world.
A bumper year for London also improved the UK’s standing as a whole, with the capital’s 22 hotels adding to the other four from around the UK. This meant that the UK’s total of 26 properties comfortably beat the somewhat lowly 14 which were nominated last year.
It is hoped this positive news will further promote London as a world-beating location for all travellers, both business and pleasure alike.
Commenting on the results, TripAdvisor spokesperson, James Kay, told standard.co.uk: “For the twelfth year running, these awards recognise the finest hotels across the globe, according to those that really matter – the travellers themselves.
“It is great to see that London continues to lead the way when it comes to outstanding hotels in the UK. And, with more than 700,000 hotels in the running this year, what a fantastic achievement for two London hotels to be named among the world’s best.”
