He’s about to land his first ever number one single, but Matt Cardle will honour the promise he made a friend and sing at their wedding this weekend.
The Essex lad, who won the X Factor last weekend and is set to bag the Christmas number one spot, might have a £1m recording contract but he’s still a wedding singer at heart.
According to MTV, he’ll be playing at his friend Chris Heap’s nuptials, whose wedding reception venue happens to be the same pub Cardle used to work in.
The singer, who is releasing a cover of a Biffy Clyro song, is expected to see his ‘When We Collide’ single soar to the top of the charts this weekend. However, he’ll be focusing on his friend’s wedding and not record sales for one evening, he told MyDaily.co.uk, because he’ll honour his commitment to his friend.
“We’re still doing that, and in fact, the booking is still standing,” he said. “I always said before I went on the X Factor, with gigs we had booked up, ‘Mate, if I’m still available, of course I will do it and I won’t charge any more’. I will do what I said I would do, because that is what I have been doing. I’m still me and I will still do the gigs.”
