Many brides-to-be will be choosing pastel colours as the main colour theme of their big day this year, a wedding blogger claims.
Writing for huffingtonpost.co.uk, Marina Licht, who created award-winning wedding blog Style & the Bride, says the slightly old fashioned trend of the demure bride will make a comeback this year. She expects more brides to be choosing wedding dresses with sleeves in a more covered-up look.
Hairdresser at Francesco salon, Beth Harris, comments in an interview with stokesentinel.co.uk that hairstyles inspired by the old Hollywood days are becoming big with brides too.
“I think we’re seeing these retro styles becoming more popular thanks to films like ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘American Hustle’,” she explains. “We’ve seen the celebrities who star in these films put a modern twist on classic retro styles for the red carpet, which is a trend that is easily transferable to bridal styles.”
Brides are really focusing on the little details when it comes to their wedding dresses, Ms Licht says, with brides opting for gowns with lots of lace or sequins. Much like pastel shades, lace is timeless, she notes.
A statement piece is a must have for 2014 weddings, but it doesn’t have to be the dress that stands out. Some brides might choose to have a particularly memorable cake or a striking bunch of flowers, so that they and their guests have something to reminisce about.
