Sir Paul McCartney will marry his American girlfriend Nancy Shevell “imminently”, friends say.
Speculation about the ex-Beatle’s third marriage has been growing since the pair flew into the UK from New York last week.
However, this time around, the ceremony will be a more private and solemn affair. Mirror.co.uk believes that Sir Paul is keen to avoid the media frenzy that surrounded his last “doomed” marriage to Heather Mills, which took place in a 17th century Irish castle in 2002.
“They will be marrying imminently,” a source close to the couple told the tabloid. “They are very excited and almost everything is in place. Friends and family have been put on standby,” they added; revealing that the wedding venue is likely to be held at McCartney’s Sussex farmhouse.
Whilst rumours of the wedding reception venue have yet to be confirmed, it is probable that Shevell’s desire to marry at home may force another celebration back in the States at some point.
“Nancy would have liked to get married in New York, but she knew an English wedding would make Paul happy,” said the source.
Shevell, who is a member of the board of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority as well as vice president of a family-owned transportation conglomerate, has been married just once before, reports Showbiz Spy.
McCartney however, was first married in 1969 to Linda McCartney – who later died of breast cancer in 1998 – before marrying former model, Heather Mills, in 2002. They separated in 2006 and later divorced in 2008 amidst a very public legal battle over finances during divorce proceedings.
