Pop star Katy Perry has kicked off her UK tour, which is due to light up event venues throughout the UK.
Reviews of her first show, which took place in London on Thursday, were mostly good; with much comment made of her “exuberant” outfits in The Sun.
According to the newspaper, some punters may have had to get their sunglasses out for the “dazzling concert,” which it described as: “The technicolour extravaganza.”
“To begin with, she squeezed her curves into a puffed-up tutu dress with a huge glittering heart splashed across the front. She then changes into a whole host of…outfits, including a dress that had a lower half covered with cupcakes.”
“And a feather leotard that looked like something out of a superhero flick,” reports added.
The singer, who is married to British comedian, Russell Brand, also shared some secrets with the audience – claiming her “guilty pleasure” is UK television shows, such as ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ and ‘The Only Way is Essex’. Perry did admit that she couldn’t understand everything the stars were saying in each of the programmes, but that she enjoyed them nonetheless.
According to Ace Showbiz, the show had most of Perry’s recent hits in it, and an attempt at a few cover songs. The show’s overall theme was that of a story located in Candyland. It saw a short story played on the screen, wherein Perry was a butcher’s daughter who had fallen madly in love with a cupcake baker’s son.
Reports suggested the daughter then fell into a dream-like state, sparking the beginning of the ‘California Dreams’ show.
