This Autumn could see a rush of people tying the knot after reports many postponed their nuptials so they didn’t clash with the Diamond Jubilee or London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, thisismoney.co.uk reports.
Suit hire firm Moss Bros has announced it is struggling to keep up with demand as thousands of grooms head through its doors looking at outfits for a delayed Autumn wedding.
As a result of the trend, Moss Bros posted stagnating profits during the summer of 2012, but is expected to recoup any costs following the flurry of delayed weddings set to take place from September through to November.
The effect is also expected to have been felt at function venues and bakers, with other wedding businesses also noticing a decline in weddings during Britain’s “summer of sport”.
Where Moss Bros is concerned, the downturn looked set to have come to an end by mid-September when much of the summer’s sporting events had come to an end. This trend, dailymail.co.uk suggests, looks set to continue for the remainder of the year, with their calendars filled with couples getting hitched after the summer delay.
With a buoyant Autumn expected, the brand has said it will look to take the hire business online, meaning that couples could soon able to book everything from their wedding reception venue to the entertainment and even the day’s outfits from the comfort of their own homes.
