Upside-down wedding cakes suspended from the ceiling, picnic receptions and decorative phone-charging stations have all been named in the six wedding trends to watch out for in the coming twelve months.
Actress, Kaley Cuoco, had the unique idea of having her wedding cake suspended from the ceiling, resembling a chandelier. This is one way that wedding blog site theknot.com says that wedding planners can make their day can stand out.
According to the blog, alfresco dining with a twist will also be popular this year. Picnic style receptions with blankets and hampers are said to replace the traditional sitting up to a table for some couples looking to tie the knot.
Decorated phone charging stations are also amongst the predicted trends of 2014, designed to cater for those who are on their phones permanently and like to use them instead of cameras.
Pip Doyle, journalist for dailylife.com, said that she sees mobile charging stations becoming more of a necessity over the next year and said they are as essential as bathroom supplies.
Ms Doyle said: “Phone charging stations are genius. It could’ve saved me from rushing back next door to our hotel from my friend’s wedding reception so I could get a selection of chargers for our table.”
Other trends predicted to be big this year are living table numbers (people dressed as ballerinas holding numbers), cacti as centre pieces and multiple engagement rings.
