When it comes to looking at venues for hire for corporate events, there’s some good news: event venues are upping the ante and adding value to their offerings.
That’s according to a survey by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), which surveyed its members and found that venues are offering more in their prices than they did four years ago.
As reported by Meetpie, 84 per cent of event venues said they negotiate on published rates. Furthermore, two-thirds have established a half-day rate and three quarters will offer a discount when food and beverages are ordered.
“There’s no doubt about it, venues are upping the ante in response to the global economy,” said Alec Gilbert, working for an event venue. “There is more being offered in the price today than in 2006; 35 per cent now include carpeting in the hire price of an exhibition hall, whereas previously it was only 19 per cent; and 58 per cent now include first aid, compared with 48 per cent before.”
Venues are continuing to invest in their facilities in a bid to improve all the time – a third have recently refurbished or extended their venue, or are just about to.
Mr Gilbert commented: “Centres are improving and expanding all the time – 40 per cent actually plan to build a hotel on site in the near future.”
