VisitBritain has collaborated with Samsung to bring a ‘Best of Britain’ mobile phone application to Samsung users.
The app launch promises to bring a wide scope of fun, social, cultural and enriching experiences to tourists visiting the UK, according to How-Do.co.uk.
It is capable of providing detailed descriptions about the must-see places in Britain; as well as providing a search facility that encompasses events, festivals, accommodation and eateries.
The app also promises to deliver a facility to search for evening entertainment, making it plausible that visitors in London could plot a whole day of sightseeing and eating before visiting one of the late night party venues London is famous for, for example.
Apadmi, the company behind the development of the app, say that it will also come with geo-location and Facebook sharing facilities.
VisitBritain and Samsung’s app realises an agreement made back in 2010 when the two paired up to provide services for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The event is said to be a key focus in the app.
On Travel Daily News, Laurence Bresh, director of marketing at VisitBritain, said that the app launch brings a “unique insight” into Britain in 2012 and to Samsung device owners across the world.
“We expect that the events of London 2012, from the Olympic and Paralympic Games to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, will inspire many to come to Britain, and we know that those already planning their visits will find the Best of Britain App to be invaluable both before they travel and when they arrive,” he stated.
