Women are increasingly helping to pay for their own engagement ring, a survey has revealed. Some women are so desperate for the perfect ring, they’re happy to chip in their own cash.
Dailymail.co.uk reports that a third of women will go to any lengths to get the perfect rock. The survey by wedding ring company Taylor&Co, also found that a fifth of women made a deal not to have an expensive, big wedding if they had the perfect engagement ring.
Couples are already teaming up to pay for other parts of the wedding themselves, including the wedding reception venue and the flowers, so perhaps jointly buying the engagement ring is simply the next step.
Femalefirst.co.uk pointed out that women expect men to spend an average of £1360 on the ring and would forfeit other expenses to get what they want.
The Founder of Taylor&Co, Sara Taylor said: “Some men choose an engagement ring themselves to pop the question, but others realise that it can be an expensive mistake if you get it wrong so involve their fiance in the selection process.”
While the survey showed that some women actually had a tantrum when the ring wasn’t exactly to their requirements, the majority said that a month’s salary was too much money to spend on the engagement ring.
