We’re very excited to announce that after Easter will be serving ‘proper’ freshly ground coffee for all conferences. So no need to stop at a fancy hipster coffee shop on your way to The Brewery when we will have our barista’s and special coffee blend waiting for you. We even have these fancy cups.
Last night (22 February) The Brewery and Speakers Corner presented the first in its new series of Knowledge Guild conferences at the Chiswell Street venue.
Compered by Mark Durden-Smith, the inspiring speaker session ‘Above and Beyond – Get going for 2016’ featured motivating guests Sir Clive Woodward, Bonita Norris and Lewis Pugh.
Sharing their incredible journeys from dreaming to achieving success, the 290 strong audience were treated to personal and professional stories of strength, leadership and teamwork. From Bonita’s journey to the summit of Mount Everest, Lewis’s fight for marine conservation and raising awareness through record-breaking swims, to Sir Clive Woodward’s philosophies for winning and creating high-performance teams across sporting and corporate worlds.
Guests took part in a Q&A session before joining the speakers for networking at a post event drinks reception, which included canapé and bowl food of triple fried chip with charred fillet of beef and béarnaise sauce; soft quail egg with cured salmon; crispy buttermilk chicken, bubble and squeak and lime gel; banana ice-cream, chocolate crumble and apple foam.
Knowledge Guild is a partnership between The Brewery and Speakers Corner, offering a mixture of world-class speakers and exceptional individuals discussing pertinent topics in a panel discussion.
Thomas Gore has been appointed Executive Chef at London venue The Brewery.
The new Executive Chef’s culinary experience includes roles at a number of event caterers, most recently as Executive Chef at The Recipe having moved to The Recipe after holding an Executive Chef role at Dish. His previous experience also consists of Taste Catering, Digby Trout as well as a period of employment in Sydney.
Gore will bring his wealth of knowledge and gastronomic skills to the award winning catering team at the venue, while being responsible for overseeing a team of ten chefs. His role includes designing menus, and creating dishes for a range of prestigious events, from breakfast boardroom meetings of 40 people, high profile conferences for up to 1000 delegates to celebrity studded three course awards dinners for 600 guests.
Thomas Gore, Executive Chef at The Brewery, commented: “I am really looking forward to widening my skills by working at The Brewery and passing on my experience to the rest of the catering team. The venue already possesses a respected reputation for catering within the events industry, which many venues with in-house caterers fail to achieve. I aim to strengthen this reputation further, winning more awards, staying up to date with food trends, and creating a distinctive offering suitable for the wide range of high profile events The Brewery hosts.”
Maria Duddin, Managing Director, The Brewery added: “Thomas is bringing to The Brewery a wealth of knowledge, creativity and experience. I am really looking forward to seeing the impact of these skills on our award winning catering, taking it to the next level of gastronomy.”
On Friday 18th November, a selection of The Brewery’s finest set sail for the Eventia Awards at The Hilton Park Lane in search of the coveted Eventia Event Team of The Year Award. Our entry had made it through the stringent judging process to be one of the 4 nominees on the evening.
The competition was extremely tough with the other nominees in the category being Lords, The Natural History Museum and The Saatchi Gallery. However we prevailed by being able to demonstrate the number of events our team have organised and managed over the last year and how the team has performed in making all of these events successful.
We have been very lucky in the last year to have hosted some amazing events; the three highlighted in this entry were the Football League Awards, Carsonified FOWD and Bibendum EC1 which were all amazing events but very different showing the flexibility of the team to manage a variety of events to an extremely high standard.
We are very proud to have been recognised for all the hard work that we have put into all the events hosted here in the last year and can’t wait to continue this awards winning ethos.
The Retreat, an exclusive pop-up members club based at The Brewery got off to a flyer on Opening Ceremony night as more than 700 guests enjoyed standup comedy from Lenny Henry, sumptuous food and drink, plus guest DJ Mat Horne on the decks.
Guests from a diverse range of London-based companies mingled with international visitors to enjoy an alfresco drinks reception in The Park, before taking their seats in the Retreat’s very own Cinema for a sidesplitting performance by comedian Lenny Henry.
The biggest cheer of the night however was reserved for Danny Boyle’s Isles of Wonder. Guests gathered around big screens throughout The Brewery to marvel at the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Other performances on the night, which have had guests acclaiming The Retreat as the number one pop-up hospitality venue in London for the Olympic period, included resident DJ Nathalie Morel and Jersey Budd. We are pleased to announce the installation of amBX intelligent lighting at The Brewery in the Smeaton Vaults and King George III spaces.
This system allows the simple creation of a fully immersive lighting experience for any event taking place in these spaces. Without any pre production the system reads the content of your video or powerpoint’s and changes the colours around the room to match what is happening on screen, so as your promotional video turns from blue to red as will the lights in the room. There is no need for a lighting desk or expensive production teams as the system does it all for you automatically.
If you do want to take control of the system this can be done via a standard lighting desk or more impressively it can be run by simply downloading a free I Phone app.
We would love to show you the system in action so please give us a call to arrange a site visit and demonstration.
