August 11, 2023
Our dedicated employees are the driving force behind our success. From the meticulous planners, to the welcoming receptionists, the talented kitchen staff, the efficient operation, finance, logistics teams and the hardworking cleaning crew, every single member of our team goes above and beyond to preserve the legacy of The Brewery. It's time we bring attention to the remarkable individuals who make our organisation what it is today.
This month, let's shine a well-deserved spotlight on Vasile, our kitchen porter Leader.
Hello Vasile, can you please introduce yourself and tell us about your background?
Hello friends, my name is Vasile Sklifos. I was born in the city of Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, a small country located between Romania and Ukraine. Right after graduating from high school, I entered the Chisinau College of Finance and Economics. I studied there for a year only, as I was called up for military service in the armed forces, where I served for 15 years. I started as a soldier and by the end of my career in the army, reached the rank of major.
While serving in the army, I graduated from the military academy in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine. After completing my military service, I lived in the city of Zaporozhye in Ukraine and worked at the Zaporozhye Coke and Chemical Factory. During this period, I also graduated from the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine, and specialised in chemical-technology engineering.
In 2012, I moved to Kyiv, where I worked as a b2b sales manager. In 2014, I decided to move to London, to live and work.

How long have you been working at The Brewery for and what is your current role?
I have been working at The Brewery since November 2014. At the beginning, I was working for a staff recruitment agency but in October 2015, The Brewery offered me the position of Kitchen Porter. I worked as a kitchen porter for 2 years, then worked in the steam room. As of June 2019, I returned to the kitchen as Night Team Leader. In July 2021 I started working as kitchen supervisor and became Kitchen Porter Leader in July 2022.
How has The Brewery supported you throughout the years?
I have always felt supported on every levels, both morally and financially. I especially felt this support during the Covid-19 epidemic, when The Brewery managed to keep us all on furlough and continued to pay us our monthly wages, thereby preventing us from being without a livelihood.
Most of all, I was touched by the enormous moral support from my colleagues following the aggression and war against Ukraine.
What do you like the most about The Brewery?
I like the friendly and caring atmosphere at The Brewery. There is a special aura here. We are like a big family and I fall in love with the place at first sight. There are difficulties in any job, but at The Brewery, all the problems are solved jointly, by the entire team.
