Meet Emma, The Brewery’s New Business Manager

January 20, 2025

Last year, we welcomed Emma back to The Brewery as New Business Manager, and it's safe to say she's brought her passion for events, wealth of experience, and infectious enthusiasm along for the ride. Now that she’s settled into her role, we thought it was the perfect time to get to know her a little better.

So, let’s start with your background. What led you to The Brewery?

I began my career as an event planner at a manor house in Kent. After that, I moved into the travel industry, working with big names like Disney and Universal. When COVID turned everything upside down in 2020, I decided to do a postgraduate in Event Management, which led to a three month internship here at The Brewery - and I absolutely loved it! After exploring a few other roles, including an Account Manager position at an events agency, I’m thrilled to be back at my favourite venue in London.

Can you tell us a bit about your role as New Business Manager?

As New Business Manager, I work closely with agencies to bring exciting new events to The Brewery. You’ll often find me out and about, spreading the word about everything we have to offer—whether it’s networking, showcasing our venue at industry events, or hosting one of our Brewery brunches.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love events, people, and creating impactful moments. You never know the ripple effect one great event might have!It could have the potential to lead to something amazing.

Porter Tun - Band

What’s the best event you’ve ever worked on?

Without a doubt, the best event I’ve worked on was an "Around the World" themed event here at The Brewery. Each space was completely transformed into a different country, and the creativity and attention to detail was incredible. The Queen Charlotte room became a Moroccan lounge, The King George III had flamenco dancers and a Basque-style pintxos bar, The Porter Tun was transformed with a South American carnival theme and a live band, and the Octagon was set up like a beautiful English garden. This event holds a special place in my heart because it took place during my internship at The Brewery, giving me the chance to be involved in every aspect—working closely with teams across sales, planning, and operations to see the whole event come to life.

What’s your top tip for making connections in the industry?

Embrace every opportunity, and don’t forget the little details about the people you meet. It makes all the difference.

The Cutting Room

What’s your favourite space at The Brewery?

I love all our spaces as they are very versatile; however, I do have a real soft spot for our gorgeous Grubstreet Cellars! These spaces are quite different from our others, with their unique, stylish design and charm—perfect for creating an exclusive feel for any event.

What’s one thing you always tell people on a site visit?

I always point out the original copper pipes in the Queen Vault, which were part of Samuel Whitbread’s innovative system for brewing beer. Whitbread had the brilliant idea of filling the vaults themselves with beer, rather than using casks. To make this work, the vaults had to be made completely waterproof. The sloped floor helped collect sediment, while the copper pipes allowed the clear beer to be drawn off from above. It’s these little details that make The Brewery so special.

Christmas 2025 at The Brewery

If you could host any event at The Brewery, what would it be?

Themed events are definitely my favourite, so it would have to be one of The Brewery’s iconic Christmas parties! I'd host a big party using this year’s Midnight Carnival theme to create the perfect setting. Every space would be put to use, with a mix of entertainment, performances, interactive activities, and lots of haze and lighting to set the mood and create intrigue and wonder.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Believe it or not, I can sing opera-style! Well, at least I give it my best shot.

Finally, what’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

If it is to be, it is up to me.

It's great to have Emma on the team, and we look forward to seeing all the events she'll bring to The Brewery.
